CHATTABOX - Playtime for under 5's.... bring an adult with you. All are Welcome.

Although we ‘lost’ some of our older children to play-school in September, we are now welcoming our ‘new arrivals’. Tyler joined us for the first time with his sister Millie before Christmas, and we have now met Kathyrn’s new baby Shaya, who was born 20th December, ‘big’ sisters, Cerys and Suranne unfortunately were unable to come to the Christmas party as they were visiting their new sister in hospital.

The children have coped well with the move from Primary to the Hall while upstairs is being renovated, at first they found the space intimidating, and were eager to go upstairs, now they enjoy the room they have to run around and the vast amount of play materials available to them. Playdough is always a favourite as is the ‘soft play’ area and the ball pool.

The members of Chattabox who now attend playschool joined us at Chattabox/Kidzone during the Christmas holiday, when we all had a super time.

We had activities to suit all the children’s ages, from playing in the ball pool to making Christmas cards and wrapping paper. In the afternoon, Father Christmas visited and told the children a story before giving everyone a present, we then had a party tea and games, great fun was had by everyone trying to ‘knock the king’s crown off’, with two teams trying to knock their opponents crown off with balls of screwed up newspaper.

Kidzone enjoyed two super days during the Christmas break. On Wednesday 21st December, the morning was spent making party hats, wrapping paper, Christmas cards, ‘cutting and sticking’ colouring in and on the computer, as well as playing in the ball pool for the younger children, Playdough and various other activities.
After lunch, Richard met Father Christmas (thank you Tony) and escorted him into the Hall to meet about 40 children who were singing Christmas songs and eagerly awaiting his arrival, after he had told them a story and given them present each, we had a party tea, with fruit and jelly and sausages etc. then a few party games, but unfortunately we ran out of time before we could play ‘pass the parcel’! You can see the party photographs here.

On Wednesday 4th January we had quite a relaxing day, the younger children played on the ‘soft play’ and with Playdough, as well as trying to play Badminton and Four in a Row with the older children. Our older members of Kidzone made a Kings Cake, which is to celebrate the Kings arrival at Bethlehem.

Tradition says that a ‘baby’ is hidden in the cake and whoever has the slice of cake with the ‘baby’ bakes the cake and hosts the next year’s party, but we wont hold you to it Richard!

The older members of Kidzone were asking if it was possible to start a new group called Teenzone, after discussions with the members and staff we are now starting a new club during the school holidays on a Thursday, to be known as Teenzone.

Teenzone will be for boys and girls aged 10 and over and will meet every Thursday, from 10am to 4pm during school holidays. Cost will be £5.00 a day, a meal and drinks will be provided. We have some suggestions for activities, cooking (a meal), making a video/DVD, computer work to name a few, but are open to more ideas.

If you are interested in joining in, want more information, or wish to book for our first meeting on Thursday 23rd February, please contact Vivienne Tel. 01566772721
